Earlier this morning (Monday, 21st December 2020), HMRC released an email circular containing a wealth of information, guides and news links covering the wave of changes that will come into effect as of the start of 2021.

The office of the Traffic Commissioners have announced an end to the current maintenance inspection relaxations, which will take effect as of 1st September 2020. The full details can be found here.
The update also includes the following issues:
An extension of temporary local bus services processes until 4th January 2021
An increase in the notice period for service variations for Local Authorities from 24 hours to 72 hours in England & Scotland
Amending a registered local bus service…
These new relaxations, which expand upon those started on 23rd March 2020 will now run till 31st May 2020.

In response to unprecedented pressures on local and national supply chains, the Department for Transport has pursuant to Article 14(2) of Regulation (EC) No 561/2006, introduced a temporary and limited urgent relaxation of the enforcement of EU drivers’ hours rules in England, Scotland and Wales. It has also introduced a temporary and limited urgent relaxation of the enforcement of GB drivers’ hours rules in England, Scotland and Wales.
